Prevalence, genotypes and phylogenetic analysis of human papillomaviruses (HPV) in northeast Iran

ObjectivesHuman papillomaviruses (HPV) are the main etiology of invasive cervical cancer. Together HPV and viral hepatitis account for cause 25% cancers in developing countries. To evaluate association between population movements spread HPV, this study looked at prevalence, genotypes, phylogenetic assessment Great Khorasan, a pilgrimage-tourism province northeast Iran.MethodsFrom March 2013 to July 2018, 567 samples were collected from three groups Khorasan: Razavi North Khorasan provinces (highly mobile population); South (conservative desert); diverse group (tourists).ResultsHPV prevalence was 48.4% (first group); 19.9% (second 33.6% group. The four most common genotypes HPV-6, 11, 51 16, first group; 16 58 second 53/89 frequent that known as high risk cancer HPV-51 group, HPV-16 Among low-risk HPV-11 more all groups. DNA sequencing analysis 20 HPV-positive showed distributions HPV-6 (50%), 11 (10%), 67 (5%), (15%), 31 54 89 (5%).ConclusionsThe findings show areas associated with movement should be frequently monitored infectious diseases, while conservative less populated have virus endemicity. Health authorities focus on establishment diagnostic facilities, screening, vaccination, enhancement public knowledge these regions.
